Basketball tryouts will resume Thursday, December 14th for 7th and 8th grade only. 7th grade tryouts will take place today from 3:00-4:30 on the outside courts. The 8th grade tryouts will take place today from 3:30-4:45 on the outside courts. The 6th grade roster is complete and has been posted on the office window. 6th grade practice is from 3:00-4:45 today on the outside courts.

Six days in November and December are designated for Teacher-Parent-Student conferences. During conferences, students will be on a shortened day schedule. On the following days, students will be dismissed at 1:10 pm: 11/30, 12/1, 12/4, 12/5, 12/7, 12/8. Homework Center will be cancelled during conferences. Although six days are set aside for conferences, every parent has the right to schedule a conference at any time during the school year (simply contact your child's teacher(s) if you're interested).

MMS students from the Theatre Club invite you to The Magnificent Variety Show. It takes place Thursday, December 7th @ 5pm in the M/U Room (cafeteria). Admission is free! The show will last about one hour. We hope to see you there!

Did you know that we have a mentoring program here at MMS called Academic Empowerment where parents become mentors to our students? The time requirement is minimal at just 45 minutes, one day a week. The Road to Success is a Middle School Character Education program that Moreland School District is using to reinforce character values taught in the home. All middle school students will receive instruction covering 4 character traits each year. These are the traits your child will learn about this year: Perseverance, A Cry For Love, Honesty, and Self-Leadership. Visit "Road to Success" under the "Programs" tab to learn more!

We recently received a check for over $300 for our Box Tops! Please help us out by turning in your Box Tops to the office by Friday, February 16th. You can find Box Tops on hundreds of products throughout the grocery store and online! We appreciate your support! Thanks to General Mills for creating this program to help support education and benefit America's schools!

Please remember to slow down when driving around MMS. With 1,000 students, we need all parents to practice patience when either dropping off or picking up your students. Please remind your children to be safe when walking or riding home. Remember - if a curb is painted red, it is a no parking zone. This includes sitting in your car waiting for your child. Thank you!

Please participate in our food drive to support the 1 in 6 of our neighbors and friends who will turn to a food bank for assistance for their meals this year. Join the superhero team of kids and employees at our Moreland schools, from October 25 through November 15, in supporting those who do not have enough to eat in our community through our Second Harvest Food Drive. Students are encouraged to bring nonperishable donations to MMS by November 15. Thank you for your support!
